Each year Chapters all over the Country elect a Chapter Woman of The Year.
Members are nominated by their chapter to receive this honor. They are members who have made notable contributions to the chapter, the community and for their outstanding achievements. Being named Woman of The Year is a great honor -- one that's highly respected by ABWA members. They are recognized at a special program when elected and at our Regional Spring Conference as well as at the Fall National Women's Leadership Conference. Congratulations, ladies, on receiving this outstanding award!

Protege Awards are given to members who have completed one year of membership and renewed their membership for a second year. They are awarded by a point system and we had two very deserving members qualify for the awards. Members who got involved immediately, served or was serving on the Executive Board, Chaired a Committee, attended Conferences, and helped with Chapter Events.

Our 2008 National Business Woman of the Year

For 50 years, ABWA's Top Ten program has honored 10 outstanding members of ABWA for achieving excellence in career, education and community involvement. Each chapter or Express Network has the opportunity to nominate a Top Ten candidate. The Top Ten is selected from all the applications by a panel of three judges who are non-ABWA Members.

Out of the Top Ten – One is selected as the Business Woman of the Year. The Top Ten are interviewed at the National Conference by three judges comprised of the Prior Year’s Business Woman and past National Officers. The Top Ten’s are honored at the Conference  and a Luncheon that is attended by hundreds of ABWA Members where they share their success stories. The winners of the Top Ten Business Women of ABWA were chosen for their numerous career and philanthropic achievements, as well as for their ability to demonstrate how their involvement in the Association has contributed directly to their career achievements.

"Many of my ABWA colleagues are small business owners like myself, and face the same types of challenges I deal with on a regular basis. We all must build our own businesses by finding and keeping clients, managing our finances and creating a business structure and culture that will fuel growth and help us stay focused on our goals. My leadership roles in ABWA have helped me increase my business knowledge and provide a way to help other women also."

“In the 15 years that I have been a member, The American Business Women's Association at both the local and national level, has been essential in providing me with personal and professional growth through networking, continued education and new friendships. By attending workshops and seminars at the local, regional and national level I have gained knowledge that has helped me grow my business, improve my public speaking, leadership, and management skills, in an environment that makes you comfortable. I think this association is “Priceless” in the contributions it makes to it’s members and that all women could benefit from being a member.”
